La Nonnette est une bière brune torréfiée aux arômes complets et complexes. Au nez, les saveurs chocolatées et légèrement fumées s'accompagnent en bouche d'arômes de fruits rouges kirschés et cacaotés. Un vrai délice !

Bottle at home in London. Pours a clearish, ruby-brown with a soft, beige head. Aroma is sweet, lightly roasted malts, some caramel and mild chocolate, some bark. Decent flavor, roasted, slightly charred malts, brown sugar, some vanilla, faintly bitter. Light to medium in body with lively carbonation. Semi-sweet finish, some lingering roastiness, hints of rich bread. Very nice beer.

bottle from jaghana - merci! Deep brown, nearly black colour with a red touch, small beige head. Shy aroma of coffee. Malty, hints of caramel, coffee, grainy, hints of wholemeal bread. Unusual beer, but interesting.

Pours brown-black with just a little bit of head. Spices, barley, dried wood, odd earthy flavours on this dark brew. Taste is coffee, spice and coriander, a sharp taste, almost a hint of christmas herbs in there. Unique and interesting, but still suffers from a wateriness that most of these French organic brews seem to have, and that I don’t like.

5.6% abv on bottle label, bought @ La Cervoiserie. triple grains, pours dark brown, quickly disappearing tan head. aromas, malty, lots of grains, good roast and coffee with mild nose of caramel. flavors, while not groundbreaking, the 3 grains give this low abv beer a nice malty profile full of grains, malts, caramel; mild chocolate, touch of mocha and coffee. Profile and finish have a mild hop bitterness along with a subdued yeasty mouthfeel. This is definitely not the beer style as entered, more along a brown ale. Tasty.

Bottle BB 11/2010. Pours a rather dark brown with a tan head. Roasted caramel aroma. Near medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is dark toast and a touch of coffee. Could be a hint of peat smoke. There is some spice and fruit, but very understated. It is rather astringent. If I had to guess blind, I’d put it down as stout. There may be anise, but it’s rather subdued. Actually the anise seems to manifest with time. Good ale.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy and dark brown with a huge tan head. Roasted malt, breadish and slight coffee aroma. Mild acidic and hard roasted malt flavoured. Subdued caramel sweetness. Nice dark beadish and slight liqourice tones flavours into the finish. Lovely lasting dark malty impression. Something between a schwarzbier and a stout - not a Belgian ale as stated here.

Pitch black, opaque beer. Decent head, fades but slowly. Nice malt aroma, roasted, slightly sweet, a bit nutty and grainy. Flavor not very sweet, similar to a dry porter, very well roasted, good barley taste, hard to identify the other grains individually, but there is a strong grainy taste to it. Very pleasant and natural. Dry, roasted grain finish. Very little hops, but also not sweet. Excellent grainy beer. Not mind blowingly original or fantastic, but very good indeed.

(Bottle 33 cl) Almost black with a massive, brownish head. Actually reminds me of a stout. Brewed with three grains: barley, buckwheat and spelt - a rather unusual combination. A long bitterness that reaches the palate. Very unusual French beer. Organic. 020404

Very sweet malty aroma with notes of bitter chocolate and caramel - almost as if it is a sweet stout. The color is deep red or brown and it has a beutiful though collapsing light brown head. The flavor is sweet and sour on a malty background with notes of roasted malt, yeast, licorice, and chocolate. It ends on a malty dryness combined with a sourness. It has a good palate. This beer reminds me more of a stout than a Belgian ale. But anyways a good beer.

Bottled. Black. Mild and velvetty. Lightly roasty with vague notes of coffe and licorice. Clean, lightly salty finish. A discrete beer.
