Malty and slightly sweet, balanced by earthy notes from the hops. The gentle rain and fertile soil of Ireland helped inspire this style of ale, known for being remarkably balanced. Pale and Caramel malts give the beer its rich, deep red color and distinctive caramel flavor. The sweetness of the malt is pleasantly balanced by a pronounced hop bitterness and an earthy note from the East Kent Goldings hops. Samuel Adams® Irish Red finishes smooth and leaves you wanting to take another sip.

Bottle. Much better then Killians Red. Love the malt hop balance. Wonderful and tasty. Smells like killians with just a little less bitterness. Dark amber color like one would expect. Great beer.

From May 2008

Purchased at Liquor Shed in Casper for US$8.10 a sixer.

Pours a clear deep amber with a good 2 finger head of foam. Plenty of lacing and very good head retention.

Nice roasted and caramel malt greet my smell buds along with a pretty substantial bitter hoppiness.

The taste is very nice. Caramel malt gives it a big sweetness kick but there's an ample amount of roasted and toasted malt there as well and..it has a good hop bitterness that helps cut through the sweetness too. Tasty Red Ale here.

Body wise, it starts off close to medium but it thins out a bit just before the swallow and it finishes with a mix of bread and a slight hop bitterness. I really like this one and I find it very easy to drink. Well done BBC! Btw, the best by date notch is November 08! Super fresh!!

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear reddish color with a medium tan head. A light malty caramel nose. The favor is caramel, toast, light floral hops, some sweeter maltier elements. Pretty nice for what it is. Clean. A bit of a spicy finish.

Pours a nice rich garnet-brown from a bottle, white head with lots of lacing. Caramel and grass aroma, similar flavor, nicely bitter behind the sweetness. Good beer.

Clear mahogany pour with a beige head and good retention. Good lacing. Thick mouthfeel. Strong caramel flavor mixed with light hops bitterness. Wish it didn’t have the hops. 5.8 ABV is slightly evident.
