(Cask at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden, London, 22 Nov 2017. 5.4%) Dark reddish brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, dark bread and caramel. Malty, roasted taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

Cask at CBC Mary Axe, 27/10/17. Rich mahogany brown with a decent beige cap. Nose is sweet malts, brown bread, toffee, dried fruits, light spice. Taste comprises biscuit, candied fruit peel, brown sugar, nutty twang, toffee, figs, dates, light spice. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. A really solid cask Bock in great condition.

Cask at Craft Clerkenwell. It pours dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma is rich malty action, earthy, umami, coffee grounds, dirt, bit of spice, dark fruits and leather. The taste is dry, sort of bitter, earthy, toasty, cocoa, umami, treacle, malt loaf, rather savoury, burnt coffee grounds and meat with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body, low carbonation and oily mouth-feel. I am not sure the balance is quite there, could be done with a touch more sweetness. Fair.

Cask at craft beer co clerkenwell. Pours deep ruby, nose is caramel, toffee, little fruit, taste is sweet, chewy, floral, toffee.

Bottle 500ml. [ As Dark Star / Saltaire Bock ].Clear medium brown color with a small to average, open and frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dark malt, sugary, pepper - black pepper notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, brown sugar, dark malt, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery and sticky, carbonation is soft. [20140705]

500ml bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield - Dark ruby-brown with a medium sized tan head that quickly recedes to a thin film. Fantastic aroma of malt, toffee, dark fruit, and a hint of spice. Full bodied without being sticky or cloying, very nice. Lovely, complex flavour - malt, caramel, brown sugar, dark dried fruit, toasted nuts - and a warm, lingering finish. Very good.

Bottle, 5.6%. Clear dark brown with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, little chocolate and a littlebread. Flavour is malt, caramel, chocolate, little nut, sweet, little sticky, little bread and a little bitter.

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are caramel, nuts, roast malt and has semi dry bitter finish.
