A well balanced, lightly hopped and malty amber modeled after scots ales.

tap at the brewpub last summer - Pours dark amber with a clear off-white head. It has a mild caramel malt aroma. There’s ample bitterness in the flavor but not as crisp as their silver foam beer. There’s also a little caramel malt in the flavor and the finish has mild bitterness. My notes differ substantially from other reviews so I wonder if they’ve retooled the recipe somewhat... or maybe my palate was just off. Who knows. Okay brew.

On tap at GRBC. Clearish deep red body, medium light tan head with shades of dingy gray. Slightly sweet caramel aroma with notes of musty fruit and wet socks. Somewhat sweet flavor, mostly sharp toasty grain, rather metallic and somewhat fruity. Earthy hops in the finish but this is mostly dry cereals. Long, rather unpleasant bitter aftertaste. I recommend staying away from their regular offerings (like this one) that seem plagued by metallic off-flavors and unusual grain sharpness.
