From the oak barrel at the source. Black color. Tons of tannins in the aroma and the taste, vinous dark roast and dark fruit.

RBESG 2017, sampled on July 21, 2017.At the brewery, Käbliku Pruulikoda, on the ride from Riga to Tartu. Brewery stop no 2.Straight from the barrel.Cloudy black color, tan to brown head. Extreme oak scent. Tannic, alcohol taste. Grainy, oak aftertaste. Grainy tannic mouthfeel, very high bitterness.Super happy about the treatment we received, super happy to get to try this, but not too excited unfortunately about the outcome of the beer itself.6/3/4/3/9=2.5

Poured straight from the wooden barrel at the brewery. This has been a leftover and been sitting in the barrel for quite some time, so keep in mind that the beer was probably not on top form. Black colour, thin beige head. Aroma of pure green apple spirit, liquorice, molasses, lots of wood and booze. Flavour is very woody, green apples, light vinous, liquorice, earth, roast, bitter woody finish. Medium bodied. Glad we could have a try, and I really appreciate the generosity of the hosts, but I just can’t get past the green apples.

8 3 8 3 16 Poured straight from the barrel at the source, RBESG ’17. Cloudy dark brown with a small bubbly brown head. Aroma of massive port, huge intense oaky barrel character, you can smell this from a mile off. Dark fruity notes and vinous port, chocolate, fudge and caramel. Flavour is heavy sweet. Medium to full bodied with alcohol warmth and soft carbonation.

(Keg at CBH2017) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, vineousness and dried grapes. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vineousness, vanilla, dried grapes, liquorice and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, spicy and bitter. A quite tasty strong imperial stout. And the barrel ageing wasn’t overdone.

Tap at TCBW. Pours black. Aroma is sweet, wine, roast, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, vinous notes. Finish is roast bitter. Overall: 3.9 feels like underrate as it was one of the best beers of the fest. I hope I get a chance for proper non-fest rate someday.

On tap at TCBW 2017. Dark, dark mahogany with a beige head. Roasty aroma with berries, fruits and barrel notes. Somewhat vinous, a light acidity and a pleasant bitterness. Fairly sweet, but finishing somewhat dry. Lighter body than expected. Nice one.
