Bottle from the brewery. Mostly clear light yellow orange with a small off white head. Nose is yeast and spice with cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and pepper with light toffee. Mildly sweet friut with the big mix of spices dominating but keeping the saison character and only lightly bitter.. Pumpkin appears mostly in the finish. Mouth is medium and creamy with moderate carbonation. I generally try to avoid pumpkin beers but this one is decent enough.

Wow, I guess I’m a little late hopping on this beer’s bandwagon, or more appropriately magic pumpkin-carriage. Didn’t know this one was (seasonally) out there. Pours a golden orange, with a good finger of persistent head. Nice nose of cloves, apricots, and cereal malt. The taste is quite the mouthful. More of those cloves, and apricots. Hay malts, a good creamy mouthfeel, and if I’m pegging down the pumpkin anyplace it’s in the aftertaste. The beer feels a little heavy-handed to the me, but still a good taste when you’re in the mood. Picked it up at the brewery, at my first overdue trip there. (Felt silly telling Freaky_tiki at the recent Ratebeer Toronto East vs West Smackdown that I haven’t’ been there. Not representing the West well by missing the craft brewery of the year X 2)

[ As Great Lakes Brewing Saison Dupump ].Unclear medium yellow orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, citrus, pale spices, pumpkin fruit, light grapes, moderate yeasty. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet, light acidic and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, spicy bitter, pumpkin, fruity, saision yeast. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20140724]

650ml bottle. Clear, orangey golden colour with huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, fruit and vegetable aroma, disguised hints of pumpkin intermingle with typical Saison yeasty notes, spicy hints of sweet mustard, mustard seed, tarragon, a minimally soapy touch of bath salt. Taste is less complex, a soapy bath salt-pumpkin mixture predominates; slightly too lively carbonation covers the tongue and prohibits a more intensive taste experience, sadly erasing the subtleties of the aroma. Ambitious conception, not fully succeeded.

Bottle: Poured a deep orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of cinnamon, cloves and light pumpkin notes with some rustic malt notes and some dry ester. Taste is also quite the mix with some heavy notes of cinnamon with some cloves, some rustic malt and the dry ester notes from the yeast. Body is quite full with great carbonation. Great mix between the spices associated to the pumpkin while retaining loads of the characteristics associated to the saison.

Another one of their Tank Ten series that offers a pumpkin beer with a nice twist on the yeast. A beautiful painted bottle. Pours a hazy golden colour with a white foamy head, decent retention and soapy lace. Nice spicy nose with the pumpkin in the background and the yeast giving out banana notes and light bubblegum. Smooth, and lightly creamy mouthfeel. Again, some nice spices in the taste blending well with the Belgian Ale yeast. Not too much pumpkin, but quite a nice offering overall worth trying.

A hazed golden ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, smooth fruity malt with light grassy notes, light gourd pulp, refreshing. In mouth, a nice spiced saison with cloves, grassy malt, orange peel, well done. Cask at Beau’s Oktoberfest 2013.

(Cask at Brydens, Toronto, Sept 22 2013) Pours a slightly hazy yellow-orange with a small head of dense foamy cask froth, a decent amount of lace left behind. Aroma is fairly light on pumpkin and spice, just a little augmenting the grass/hay, spicy yeast and pale malts of a saison. Initially the beer has a slightly sour edge, a little orange, some grass/floral hops, pale malt sweetness builds in the middle with pumpkin spices and subtle pumpkin flesh character coming through, leading to a slightly sour saison finish, fairly dry and lightly bitter, lingering spices and bready notes. Body medium, smooth cask as expected. This is a good pumpkin beer and a pretty good saison, too. Good for the transition from summer to fall.

One of the better beers at the C’est What Festival. Some bubblegum and hay here with only minimal notes of pumpkin. Pours orange and cloudy with some head and lacing. Average carbonation. Light sweet and sour finish.
