(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, burnt rubber, black-currant, dried figs, orange peel, sweet soy sauce, some chocolate and a touch of brandy. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, figs, raisins, orange peel, brown sugar, a touch of tamarind and a balanced resiny bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, quite sweet. It’s not really shy, but not quite as over-powering as suspected.Tasty and fairly well balanced. Nice one.

Clear red to amber beer, small irregular yellowish aery head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, malty, caramel, fruity, raisins, some green banana, bit sugary. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: some strawberry jam, little bit of citrus, sugary, fruity hops. Aftertaste: lemony touch, bit hoppy, caramel, sweet malts, very nice!

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours dark amber with a small frothy goldenish beige head that leaves a small spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and slightly fruity with caramel, sweet dark bread, cereal, raisins, dates, mango, dried papaya, resinous wood, moist soil, pine needles, orange zest and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, slightly fruity, slightly earthy and tiny boozy with caramel, sweet dark bread, golden syrup, honey, grapefruit rinds, orange zest, dried tropical fruits, resinous wood, pine needles, moist soil, liquorice root and hints of burning alcohol. Mouthfeel is round, sticky, tiny astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter, slightly fruity and slightly earthy with caramel, sweet dark bread, honey, resinous wood, pine needles, grapefruit rinds, raisins, dried tropical fruits, moist soil and alcohol. Very nice American Barley Wine. Held on to my bottle for about 6 months so it’s showing some pleasant signs of oxidation. Would have loved seeing this forgotten for about a year in a bourbon barrel.

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Mohawk American Barley Wine ].[ Trade by omhper ]. Light unclear medium to dark brown amber color with a average, creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white to light light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, riped fruit, dried fruit, wood, alcohol, moderate hoppy, dried fruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, caramel, candy, marmalade, hoppy, fruity, dried fruit. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20140722]

Flaska från SB. Mörkt kopparfärgad vätska. Kraftiga dofter av bröd, säd och fikon. I smaken återfinns fikon, russin och en markant sötma. Den sistnämnda balansera väl av en kraftig beska. Eldig men ändå mjuk munkänsla. Lång eftersmak.

Flaska från SB. Kopparfärgad, klar, nästan inget skum, en liten ring bara. Först en del humledoft men den försvinner ganska snabbt och kvar är karameliserat socker, torkade päron och alkohol. Smaken har en del humle med lite tallskott, men är mest maltsöt karamell och alkohol och smakerna dör ganska snabbt. Beskan finns där men är ganska beskedlig. Inte i närheten av Bigfoot som den nog sneglat lite på. Kanske kan den vinna på lagring.
