Warning! Early amateur rating! Full bodied lager with a strength of taste you would associate with a much stronger lager. Slighty bitter finish. Alright.

Bottle, 5.6%. Weak grassy hop aroma. Clear dark golden colour. Stable white head. The flavour does have some OK grassy hops, but it is also a little rough. Good mouthfeel.

500 ml bottle, bought in Riga, as "Piebalgas Alus Piebalga". ABV is 5.6%. This is a "gaisais alus" (= pale beer). Unpasteurised. Pale golden colour, large and lasting white head. Sweetish malty and slightly fruity aroma, hints of honey. Sweet malty flavour, too sweet for a pale lager. Notes of honey. Alcohol is noticeable. Some hops in the finish. Unusual lager, but not undrinkable.

Bottled. Golden colour, huge white creamy head. Strong hoppy and alcoholic nose with a weak lemony note along. Flavour is hoppy, toffeeish and a bit hayish. Hints of honey and alcohol too.
