Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. An attractive golden amber with a tight cream head; aroma of orange peel and marmalade; lip-smacking orange marmalade taste with lots of strong resinous piney hops and a rich buttery biscuit body; then lingering crisp green hops and tart grapefruit to finish. Excellent, one of the few UK beers that could stand up against an American IPA.

(Cask at Kitty’s, 20130831) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was small, long lasting and white. Aroma had malts, hops and caramell. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, caramell and bitterness. Aftertaste had hops, caramell, malts and bitterness. A good balanced English style ale.

Golden beer with a thin head and a mild hop aroma. There’s a faint sweet edge to the taste but I couldn’t pick out what it was as the flavour is predominantly of hops. Taste-wise it’s one I could enjoy having a few of for an evening but given the strength that’d probably be a bad idea!

Cask @ Diggers, Edinburgh (5.6%) [060313]
Golden, clear, dense thin white head, some lacing
Aroma of citrus hops, soft grapefruit, zesty hops, fairly resinous, sweet pale malts
Taste of bitter citrus zest, more bitter resins than fruit, plenty of punch, sweet oily pale malts
Palate - Medium body, oily quite sticky texture, good texture. Finish is resinous zesty, consideraby bitter hops, bitter tail that clears, perhaps a tad over bitter in the finish
Overall - Solid beer but would like a bit more fruitiness
