It’s a real doozy—a glorious 8.67% ABV Belgian-style ale, made with a blend of local wildflower honey, German and Austrian hops, and Pilsner malt, all finished with a Champagne yeast. That’s its public face, anyway. Between you and me, that's probably just beer talk for a secret extract made from Alan Rickman’s tears, Merce Cunningham’s sweat, and purified water used in the Pina Bausch production Nefes.

Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 1 - 01/03/14. Hazed orange with a moderate off white covering that retains well. Nose is fruit based, peaches, sugars, mandarin, light floral ntoes. Taste comprises yeast esters, apricot, light citric pangs, straw, mandarin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok affair but not really coming across as a mead, not sweet or strong enough, more a Belgian strong to me.

Bottle, 75cl. An off-white head leaves lacings as I drink. It has a clear, golden body. The aroma is mostly citrusy, with a low level of honey. Fruity and lighlty malty. Some alcohol. The flavor is semi-sweet, with a touch of honey. Mostly fruity though. Some flowery hints and malttyness. Full body, a tad too carbonation. Some alcohol warmth. Fruity, lighlty spiced and honey-ish finish. Well, it’s a nice one indeed, but a bit going in all directions at once. 140301
