2014 Bronze winner and 2013 silver winner of the Great American Beer Festival’s Wheat Beer with Yeast category. Wheatfish combines the best aspects of three major types of beer, Wheatfish is brewed like a German wheat beer, cold-fermented, aged like a lager, & hopped (three separate additions of cascade hops) like an American ale. The wheat contributes a full body & light spiciness. The hops give citrus hints & the finish is crisp & smooth. Low in bitterness & very drinkable.

Vestjysk Vinter Vanvid januar 2014. (as wheat lager, which is a good name for such a character-less wheat beer). Hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of fruit, grain and sulpur. Sweetish yeasty and fruity flavour with quite a bit of sulphur.

Bottle. An almost clear one, golden in color and topped by a white head. The aroma has pale malts and a light citrusy, fruity touch. The flavor too is pretty weak, some pale malts, some fruityness and a faint bitterness. No cloves, banana or bubblegum detected. Medium body, low on carbonation for a weizen. Short mostly fruity finish. Overall, not true to style at all, but at least it’s quenching and not flawed. 140118

Bottled in Columbia Fals, MT. (as Great Northern Wheatfish Wheat Lager). Hazy golden, rich head. Aroma of peach, grapefruit and wheat crackers. Fairly sweet with light medium body, rounded mouthfeel. Finishes with medium bitterness. More aromatic and pleasing then you’d expect from a "wheat lager", but deffintely altogether without banana/clove character.
