(Cask at Gallows Bird Real Ale Festival 2016) The beer poured black. Its head was small and nearly white. Aroma had dark chocolate, burnt malts and coffee. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, coffee, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A brew with good aroma and too burnt taste.

Cask @Gallows bird, Real ale festival 2016. Pours almost black with a thin brown head. Chocolate, coffee, cocoa and ash dominates. Really dry, ashy finish in this one. Light bodied, but nicely flavored, too ashy for me though.

Gravity poured half-pint on 18th April 2015 at the Stourbridge CAMRA Beer Festival. Nice looking black brew with a good beige head: smoky feel to it’s chocolate and liquorice flavours, late bitterness in the finish. Very drinkable.

Cask at Great British Beer Festival 2013. Poured a black colour with a thick, dense tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, liquorice and some ryebread. Slightly more watery mouth feel than I was hoping for. Dark fruit flavours with molasses and plain chocolate. Finishes with burnt malt, hop resin and sweetened coffee.
