A murky dark reddish amber barleywine with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with vinous notes, molasses, alcohol warmth, dark fruits, plums, very nice and complex. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with vinous notes, vanilla cookies, resinous and piney hops, light mineral notes, nice and complex, yet very smooth. Bottle at OttBottShare April 2018.

nice name, makes me think of hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy. Clear amber / orange brown, light brown head. Nice slightly fruity , malty, woody but not bitter woody aroma. Like a uk style barley wine, not much flowery hops bitterness, more euro style hops bitterness, and not that prominent. Flavor is malty, fruity, good balance between sweet and euro bitter, notes of honey, i think The wheat shows in that the beer is much smoother and somewhat grainy sweeter than other barley wines. I have aged the bottle few years, perhaps the hops have been more prominent earlier on. How it is now, however, is great for a barley wine style ale.

Rich molasses, walnut, and cashew nose, some oak as well. Opaque ochre, thin yellow head. Overripe orange, marzipan, chock full of nuts. Cashew in the end. Full body, moderate carbonation. Yep, this a barleywine, but I never would have guessed it had any significant amount of wheat in it.

Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 1 - 01/03/14. Lightly hazed rich golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is ripe fruit, sugars, caramel, boozey wafts, candied orange peel. Taste comprises bitter orange, candied fruits, light booze, caramac bar. Medium + bodied, dine carbonation, sweet closure. Ok barley wine, no great depth to it but ticks the boxes.

Bottle, 75cl corked. It’s a clear, dark golden to amber in color and topped by a small, dense, light beige head. Sweet, hoppy aroma with a caramel note and some alcohol. It’s a tad too alcoholic on the palate, full-bodied and sweetish. Bitterness, some sweetness and pine cones. Rather malty. Lasting finish with alcohol, bitterness and caramel maltyness. Pretty nice this one, but it lacks on balance. 140301
