Cask at Penderl’s Oak (JDW), Holborn, 10/04/13. Very lightly hazed golden blonde with a thin off white head. Nose is orange, light grapefruit, lite piss, hop notes, like a diet IPA from the US if such a thing existed ! Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, touch of mango, hops, dank pine lite TM, orange pith, residual sugars. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, some light bitterness in the finish. Drinkable stuff, I just wish they’d said bollocks to it and cranked this one up a little. One of the better spring ’13 fest beers for me!

Shakespeare’s Head Spoons. Clear bright gold beer, little white head. Light semi dry palate, low carbonation. Light floral hops, touch of lime and mild citrus. Trace of sulhur. Seems a bit tired already but okay. 3.0
15th April 2013
Sir John Oldcastle Spoons. Smooth and semi dry with decent fine carbonation. Light floral start with a touch of lime and a whisper of other tropical fruits. Mild minerals. Tiny bit of skunky hop. Finishes semi dry. Virtually a different beer to that served in the Shakespeares Head. Bravo to the former and raspberries to the latter!

Cask@the flying horse JDW, Gatwick Airport - Pale gold colour with a fast dissipating medium white head. Some nice hop notes in both aroma and taste, biscuity malt, pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a broken white head and some broken lace. The aroma is grassy and floral leading to a medium bitter, hoppy flavour with a smooth bitter palate and aftertaste. This is a lovely ale and I like the direction that Marston’s are moving in.

Cask at the Stag & Hounds, Binfield. Attractive, bright, pale amber with a ring of loose white head; slightly musty, fruity aroma - mango & papaya; rather thin with sourish mango flavour with a touch of citrus; and some light spiceto finish. Pretty good stuff.
