Keg at The Source. It pours black with a small tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, oily, treacle, liquorice and toasty The taste is drying, bitter, charred wood, roasted malt, tar, oily, treacle, slick, chewy action and taffee with a drying finish. Medium body and low carbonation. A bit chewy and earthy. OK.

Dan's Stag. Brewhouse. Bristol. Cask. Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth, mildly dry and has modest fine carbonation. Tangy but otherwise mellow dark malts, modest dark chocolate. Trace of earthy roast. Dry finish. Okay. Could not drink loads.

Cask at the brewpub. Pours black-brown with a tight, frothy khaki head. The nose has some roast, cocoa, ash. Light sweet flavour with burnt molasses, hints of vanilla, mild roast, cocoa, milk chocolate. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, more chocolate character. Solid.
