Beer #2 of 17 (8 beers on either side of #8000 plus the magic 8000th itself) Fairly clear and copper/bronze coloured body with a very small, single centimetre tall, just off-white head on top that fades relatively quickly. Aroma of alcohol, coriander seed, curacao, yeast, bread, light flowers and softer spices with a dash of pepper and nutmeg and a good deal of malts behind. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich malty, wheatie, yeastie and spicey flavours dominate up front as you'd expect form a Tripel with a lot of the bready and banana flavours from the yeast strain and a dash of bubble gum and light tropical fruits such as papaya and melons with some of the drier peppery and coriander seed flavours showing through as well. Aftertaste is soft and very subdued with the alcohol being very mild along with the yeast and bread components, but there is a lot of sugars and wheat here and of course a good deal of drying spices, such as the coriander seed and the curacao. Overall, a very well-balanced and nicely structured, polished Belgian Tripel (I don't care what the label says) that has aged quite nicely in the bottle and well worthy of a 'milestone' beer rating, for sure, especially after being kept right for so long. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from GlenRo Spirit Shoppe in Monroe, Connecticut on 10-March-2018 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 16-April-2020. This was the second beer of my 8000th celebration and continued on much better than from before, as this was well worth keeping for 2+ years and having some 8 years after brewing! Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy yellow, fruity, yeasty, banana, peppery, light roast.

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ cgarvieuk [ Lets do a chrisO Tasting ], Edinburgh, Scotland. [ As Weyerbacher Seventeen ].Unclear - hazy matt medium yellow color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, pale malt, wheat, alcohol, fruity, moderate yeasty, spicy yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, yeast, alcohol, strange floral spicy ! Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140315]

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white soapy head recedes to mottle surface. Sweet caramel, summer fruit and citrus aromas. Well balanced and still a little hot with toffee, peaches and spicy yeast upfront turning to bitter earth in the warm, lasting finish.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton, always fun to try these anniversary beers. Hazy gold in colour with a small white head. Smooth palate, a little soft. Floral yeast and sweet generic fruits, tinned. Mild spice. Light crisp finish. Tasty.

Bottle thanks to Leightonian. It pours hazy golden orange with a small white head. The nose is orange, nectarine, apricot, hay, toast, light vanilla, wood and spice. The taste is crisp, orange, tangerine, sherbet, alcohol heat, spice, toasty coconut, vanilla and wood with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit hot perhaps, but it still makes for a interesting and enjoyable drinking experience.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - this one I got at New Beer Distributors in NYC. Pours mostly clear gold with a frothy white head. Aroma holds doughy white bread, lemon meringue, hints of straw. Medium sweet flavor with lots of pale bread, herbs, yeast, semi-dry citrus. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with further yeasty, doughy pale malts, subtle spices, hay. Strong but pretty tasty overall.

12 oz. bottle. Hazy orange color, with a thin off-white head. The aroma is orange slices, white bread, strong sugar, overripe bananas, and syrup. The flavor is stickily sweet, with some very light bitterness. Light to medium body, very sticky, and sugary. Overall, this is a big, sticky saison.

12 ounce bottle shared by Butters at the 19th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering. Pours a hazy lemon color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bread, honey, spice, citrus. The taste is stone fruits, spice, citrus, herbal hop finish. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness. Nice beer.
