On tap @Birrificio Marconi (Rome). Nera, impenetrabile, schiuma beige media e persistente. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Molto buona!

Keg tap at the Italian Job, Chiswick. Very dark brown - almost black - with a modest tan head. Charcoal, liquorice, blackberry and a hint smoke. Sweet taste with the roasted malts trailing on the tongue. Nice full finish, low carbonation but that works for this beer. Liquorice with a hint of tobacco and salted plum on the glorious aftertaste. Yum.

Bottle sample @ Brassigaume 2012. Dark brown, edging slightly to black with a tanned head. Some mocha in the nose, chocolate malts, lightly creamy hops, milk chocolate. Tastes of sweet milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, cream, dark sugar, sweet liquorice, herbs, some coca-cola. Medium to light bodied – not that bad / not that great either.

Bottle sample @ Brassigaume 2012. A revisiter.
