Cask at Haymarket. Pale gold with a thick white head. Caramel and hay aromas. Light sweet taste. Not a lot going on. A bit thin. OK.

From cask. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is smooth fruity, light peachy. Smooth fruity, peachy and grapefruity. Toasted malty and light bitter finish.

On tap @ Bert’s Bar. Golden to amber with a decent head. There the pleasure ends - it’s got a real oxidised and butterscotch nose and this follows through onto the palate where it also adds an unpleasant astringent malt finish. The palate is thin and still astringent on the finish. Overall, not very good.

Retro reviews from Spring 2012 Wetherspoons Beer festival; quite sweet ale but refreshing.

It requires a good sniff to get the aroma of this balance, crisp ale which feels light. Golden with a creamy head. Medium-high bitterness.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. Looks perfect. Light dough in the nose with wisps of hay. Medium sweet flavor with definite hay and faint, tangy citrus. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with faint bitterness of hay, some lemon and light dough. A touch sweet without the necessary offsetting bitterness, but overall it’s a nice beer.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading] Deep gold, mild lemon and butterscotch in a very, very weak and watery mouthfeel. It grew on me as the lemon flavour intensified in a mildly bitter finish, but didn’t grow enough.
