On tap at the Bocktown, Monaca. Smell is a little spicy as with most domestic holiday beers. Look is pleasantly dark. Keeping in mind, I’m not one for spiced beers, but there it was! First taste is spiced fer sure, if you are expecting a spiced beer, you got it. However, its not over the top as with many spiced beers. There is enough in there to let you know its the holiday but not enough to make you turn it down. I kinda got used to it after a while. Grows on yah. Its fairly easy to see the backbone beer behind this one. Finish is of course medium spice, but that covers any mode of bitternesss, unlike many other spiced holiday brews.

Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a black color with a trace khaki head. The aroma was sweetish, tangy and malty with notes of licorice, rum and raisin. The flavor was full of raisin, molasses, dates and tart fruits with a lightly bitter middle and a long tart raisin and date finish. Fairly full bodied. Interesting.
