May 2013: Sample from bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2013, from the Fish & Beer stand. Black colour, moderate tan head. Lovely aroma, moderate roasty notes, coffee, vanilla, caramel, chocolate and liquorice. The medium sweet flavour has a very slight acidity, roasty notes of coffee and chocolate, and a little caramel and liquorice.

Bottle 50 cl. Vintage 2015, now at 11,1% ABV. Pours an opaque black with a dissipating brown head. Roasty nose with quite some peat. Rich, thick body, sweet roast, salt licorice, ashy, tar and iodine from the peat that just seems to grow throughout the beer to a pint where it’s no longer pleasant. 140616

Bottle shared at the chriso Easter 2015 tasting - London. Pours oily black with a creamy beige head. The nose holds burnt sugars, chocolate, ash and peat. Big sweet flavor with harsh ashy roast, some chocolate, iodine, burnt wood, brown sugar and earth. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with lingering harsh burnt wood. OK.

Bottle at ChrisO’s. It pours near black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich roast, earthy, vanilla, fudge, toasted sugar and Rocky Road. The taste is toasty, rich roast, earth, ashy notes, cocoa, charred wood, leather and dull coffee with a dry finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Decent, but not a game-changer.

Big dark brown head. Opaque black body. Roasty earthy linoleum aroma with chocolatey notes. Dryish earthy chocolatey mealy taste with licorice and spice notes. Fullish body. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dry earthy honeyish linoleum aftertaste with spicy burnt mineraly notes. Quite nice and interesting, but a bit dense and harsh. (0.5l bottle, from Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)
