A well balanced straw coloured bitter which is initially sweet but with a hoppy aftertaste close behind. Makes this a good session beer.

Cask at the Beacon Hotel, Sedgley. Pours gold with a small head. Aroma is straw malt and light citrus hop. Taste has biscuit, straw and light citrus. Bitter, straw finish. Lovely.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Clear, golden-brown pour with a soft head. Lots of dried fruit and hearty toast on the nose. Lightly sweet flavor, more dried fruit, some leather, grass and leaves give bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes fruity with mild sweetness and some lingering hops. Kind of alright. (3.5)

Cask at the Beacon Hotel during the RateBeer Black Country Bus Bash. Pours clear yellow with a creamy white head. Mild buttery dough in the nose. Light sweet flavor with odd grass and hay, some minerals. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly dry to finish with faint dough, hay and grass. OK but seems slightly out of sorts. (3.0)

Cask gravity at St Albans BF 09. Clear gold, thin off white head. Diacetyl aroma. Butter in mouth. Bit hard, like quite a few of the beers here. Like hard butterscotch sweets. Diacetyl just kills it. Grassy hop finish.
