This knight rides alone with a lighter body than traditional black beers, lifted to its mount with a great show of hop bitterness. Lighter body than one would expect but deep in flavor. Notes of coffee and chocolate swirl from the glass while the flavors drift to sweet, dark malt. Balanced, earthy tones ride throughout this well-balanced brew.

Pours reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and floral. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Pours dark ruby amber with a small creamy head. Chocolate, caramel and fruit. Mild roasted bitterness. Bitter finish. Medium bodied. Certainly drinkable.

Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are caramel, malt, little fruits and hops.

Sample at the brewpub. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually to a film. The aroma is malty with a bit of chocolate in the background. Light-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is sweet chocolate malt up front with a light herbal hops aftertaste. Decent overall.
