Cask. Black colour, small beige head. Aroma is sweet malts, mild roasted and liquorice notes along with some nutty tones. Flavour is nutty, toffeeish, mild liquorice as well as some mild spices to it. Smooth and delicate.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2016. Almost black in colour, with a slight, beige, head. Aroma of sweetish, dark fruits, roasted malts, and a some leafy hops. Flavour had more toasty malts, a touch of blackcurrant and moderately dry finish. Good.

24th March 2016: cask third of a pint in a Shrewsbury Wetherspoons. Dark as the name suggests, it’s black, the head a full tanned affair. Decent malt domination with coffee notes to the fore in both the nose and taste: liked it.

Cask @ Crosse Keys, London. Almost black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and licorice. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and roasted moderate bitter finish. 250316

On cask @ the Standing Order. Appearance - dark brown to black with a nice fawn head. Nose - light chocolate and charcoal. Classic dry stout. Taste - more of the same and add liquorice. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a nicely balanced finish. Overall - yep, good beer.

Cask at the standing order. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of liquorice, faint chocolate. Taste is more of the same. Light roasty finish.

Cask at the Windlesora, Tourist Town, 15/03/16. Light black with a well appointed tan cap. Nose is light roast, biscuit, baking powder, cocoa dusting. Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, light marzipan, cocoa powder, toffee. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Average.

Cask @ GBBF 2015. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty chocolate and caramel aroma. Roasted malty caramel and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty caramel and chocolate finish.

Cask at the Tilly Shilling (JDW), Farnborough. Glossy black with a loose beige head; aroma of coffee grounds; sweet, fruity, licorice taste with a touch of salt; then a dry finish with some crisp grassy hops. Better than I was expecting.
