Bottle, 75cl corked, at TFODRBSG 2012. It pours a dark brown body under a finger-thick, dense, off-white head that lasts and leaves some curtains. Piney, citrus peel like aroma with some roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Quite sweet on the palate, with roasted malts, dark chocolate and some coffee. Full body, soft on the carbonation. Lasting, roasted finish. A bit sweet this one, more like a hopped up porter than a black IPA, but it’s a tasteful and pleasant beer anyway. 120818

Bottled@chriso pre-gbbf shindig 2012. Deep amber colour, close to black, with a small head. Aroma is earthy, floral, fruity and mild liquorice with some slight toasted notes. Flavour is fruity, floral, mild liquorice, some ashes as well as mild toffeeish notes.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012. It pours cloudy deep brown, with a thin white head. The nose is varnish, wood, bitter-sweet aspect, chocolate and caramel. The taste is hay, straw, metal, burnt rubber, toast and charcoal, with a light bitter finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. There is something in the flavour I don’t quite like.

750ml bottle. Opaque dark brown colour with average to huge, firm, frothy to creamy, moderately lacing, beige head. Grassy hop aroma, minimally herbal and floral, dark malty undertones need some time to evolve. Very smooth, soft silk palate. Taste is minimally sweet dark malty, grassy hop overtones, bitter hoppy and dry roasted dark malty finish. Sadly the malt basis is a bit light and one-dimensional. Nevertheless a very nice beer.

Blumig hopfiger Beginn mit klarer Bitterkeit. Diese Bitterkeit wird im Mittelteil in den Hintergrund gedrängt, der Hopfen steht nun im Vordergrund, die Malzigkeit ist cremig und bietet verstärkt Röstnoten. Zum Ende sind Hopfen und Bitterkeit in etwas gleich, die Blumigkeit unterliegt aber dem Malz. 11/13/9/11/12/12

Aroma has some hops, resin, bready malt. vanilla and biscuits. Also some weird starch‐like element and hints of gooseberry bush. Bready malt occurs at the end of the glass. Flavour has resin, some biscuits and vanilla. Not bad, but not very good in this style.

75cl bottle from Bierkompass. Poured almost black with a lacing, brown head. Aroma has chocolate, fruity hops, cats piss. Bitter grapefruity hops and light spiciness in flavor. Quite pleasant black ipa.
