This straw coloured wheat beer is produced with malted barley and a predominately wheat grist, then spiced with cardamom, coriander and black pepper. This beer was initially produced to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Barney Hughes, Barney was a 19th century philanthropist and creator of the "Belfast Bap".

Old rating from 2014 - 500ml bottle, pours pale golden with a small white head. Aromas & tastes of coriander, citrus, pepper, cardamom, ginger, herbs, hints of spice & wheat. Moderate body. Slightly acidic moderate bitter finish

Tap at John Hewitt, Belfast: Hazy blonde coloured brew with an fine floral hoppy taste and some hints of ginger, caramel and coriander.

500ml bottle. Pours foggy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is citrus, black pepper, coriander. Taste is light sweet, wheat, mixture of oranges and lemons and a touch of spice. Light bitter finish.

Bottle from KWM Wines. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, wheaty and spicy. Flavor is medium sweet. Sweet finish. 260120

Bottle 0.5l. Almost clear, gold colored. AROMA- sweet spicy, honey. FLAVOR- dry, moderately bitter, citrusy, spice. Medium bodied.
Well balanced, very good spicy ale.

Bottle from Nina’s Mini Market. Appearance - it opens with a Belgian like head which then quickly fades. I sense infection. It’s golden. Nose - confirmed infection, tangy sour wheat/barley notes. Taste - more of the same really. Palate - light bodied and tangy throughout. This beer is faulty. Overall - will need to retry on cask as this wasn’t in the condition it should’ve been.

Bottle.Creamy White good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Soices not very present. Moderate bitter flavor. Some spicey notes. Average light bitter finish. Oily palate.
