Bottled. A dark amber beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, wood, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, wood, and whiskey, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Bottle. Pours black with medium brown head that doesn’t last. Aroma is roasted malt, soft prunes, apricot, coffee, blackberry wine gums and Farm Licorice. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and light acidic. Body is oily to creamy with fresh carbonation. Finish is long and velvety with notes of malt, gravy, prunes, wine gums, licorice, almonds and marzipan. Very pleasant and well balanced. Nice with a different Christmas beer that your typical dark sweet and spiced ale.

Bottle from Kvickly in Sønderborg. Pours slightly hazy dark copper brown with airy but stable light tan head. Clear aroma of raw malt, caramel and liquorice. Ditto taste, esp. the note of salt liquorice is quite pronounced. Notes of dark chocolate. Slightly roasty finish with notes of malt. Decent.

Bottle, 8.5%. Roast barley aroma, a little salt liquorice. Almost black colour. Big semi-stable dark brown head. The flavour is creamy and roasted with a little aroma hop. Late cream flavour along with vanilla and a little more salt liquorice. Sort of bready aftertaste, but quite all right - must be the whisky. The mouthfeel is a little thin for the style.

Black with a lasting tan head. The aroma has chocolate and a touch of coffee with dried fruits and whisky notes. However, the aroma is a little flat, not as expressive as you would expect from a beer like this. The flavour is sweetish, of chocolate and malt, with some fruity notes, oak and whisky. Again, it’s not quite up there, perhaps it’s filtration and pasteurization, but I feel like I’m already sensing that classical Vestfyen cardboard note... I have tasted better Willemoes Jul in previous years
