The south is famous for smoking everything. Why not beer? Sue is a big, rich, smoky malt bomb of a beer, with mellow smokiness coming from barley malts smoked with cherry wood, and assertive bitterness from Galena and Perle hops to cleanse the finish.

Notes from March 2011 Bottle from my country music star JohnQVegas. Hibernating in my neighbor's kitchen cupboard for what I was led to believe, was over a year. Bottle notch says third week of December(09?). WTF was that guy waiting for?! Improper Carlseberg pils glass. Full, tan head. Black body, ruby hued. Minimal lace. Constant froth. Smell is grilled, meaty charred fat, with a bit of sharp dark chocolate. Touch of lactose it seems. Spicy, though subdued hops, round it off nicely. Taste is subtle roast, rich malt, licorice, earth & soot. A tree bark bitterness. Unwarranted coffee as it warms. Grain & ash finish. Full feel. Mild carbonation. Balanced alcohol. Does this come in a six pack? Nice. Send me another one D. :)

At BXL. Black. Licorice, smoke, meaty and earthy. Feels quite light for the abv. Dark and roasty beer that’s almost BBQed.

Tasting at Matt's
Brown color, almost no head. Deep smoke aroma, chocolate, wood. Smooth mouthfeel, good body strength, moderate sweetness, the malt and caramel flavor is deep enough, a bit nutty, a bit earthy.
Excellent.

Brown colour, without a head. On the nose, it's quite smoky, like hickory or something. This has a fairly sticky sweet brown sugar/toffee sort of character. So definitely aiming for a barbeque sort of thing. Might be a bit thin on the palate, still with a lot of smoke, and then there's a bit of chocolatey burnt stuff as well. So it's not bad, but there are some issues.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Nose is loaded with moderate smoke, with toasted caramel bready malt. Flavour brings out a nice campfire smoke, with light smoked meat and sweet caramel bready malt. Smoky and sweet on the finish. Very nicely done.
