Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a dark copper-amber color with a huge foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was strong sweet pine, resin and grapefruit. The flavor was very bitter with an intense pink grapefruit presence that explodes on the tongue followed by tangy sweet pine, resin and lemon and a bit of bread underneath. Very long grapefruit and tangy pine finish. Full bodied. Excellent.

Sample at the Columbus Winter Beerfest on 01/14/2012: This beer is a clear orange color with a medium white head that burns away steadily. Short strings of lacing. Piney hops, citrus and malt in the nose. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops flavor that has grapefruit and pine notes. Sweet malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a citrus aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Growler shared by mike. Poured a clear gold with a white head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a strong hop aroma that was dank, piney and a bit of wood as well. Flavor was hot with pine, woodsy and a dank sweet grain finish.

Draft at the Bistro DIPA Fest. My favorite of the bunch that I sampled. Nose of lots of pine and citrus. Very lightly hazy gold with a small pale yellow head. Flavor is bitterness with a contasting light caramel sweetness.

Growler from Fat Head’s Cleveland. So I went in to buy a growler of Head Hunter, but tried a sample of this and... well... this should be mandatory for all human beings at least once in a perfect life. Huge blast of hops cone aromas... pine, pineapple, mango, grapefruit. Heavenly. Body is a fairly light golden orange with a little bit of a head and many streams of tiny bubbles rising to the surface. Flavor is darn near perfect for anything aspiring to be my kind of IPA or IIPA.... lots of hops, enough malt to balance and thicken things up a bit and a very bitter finish with some resin. Seriously, this could end war and fighting if it were distributed in bottles.
As I work my way to the end of this growler on night two, I can’t help but think that I should have a barrel on tap in my basement at all times... seriously, world class.
