Almost black beer with a beige lacing. Aroma of liquorice, mid sweet dark malt. Taste of intense sweet dark malt, liquorice, melasse, dry nutty finish.

16 oz. can. Pours a dark, reddish, brown color, with a small, beige head. The nose is maple, butterscotch, leather, raisins, and nutmeg. Very sweet and sugary, with a light bitterness. Heavy body, syrupy, and slick. Nice, malty thing.

Pint can - deep ruby pour - headless, but has some rising bubbles - nose of treacle, raisin, fig - slick mouthfeel, full body - fruitcake, treacle, plum, light oxidation/sherry - candied cherry and chocolate late - nice true-to-style rendition, and at 6 bucks a pint, I may need to get some more.

2024 can from the brewery, drunk at Stout Week line share, 2/18/24. Clear, deep amber, small, beige head, modest retention. It's rich, it's malty, it's full of toffee, raisin and honey. Controlled on the alcohol and no PNW hop notes, thankfully. Bit of bread and acidity on the back end. In the mouth, it's a typical barleywine. Low complexity, lots of malt, lots of sugar, lots of alcohol (not hot/sharp). Have never liked this style and never will, but this is done well, for what it is. Good texture/malt depth, carbonation and better than average attenuation.

Bottle shared for my birthday thanks to Razvan. Dark brown. Caramel, toffee, sweet rye, sugar, quite some spices, cane sugar, cinnamon, oak. Quite spicy and malty, thick and sweet but not very boozy. Thick full body. Pretty good in small amounts.

75cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Bought discounted because it was not fully filled. Pours dark brown, fairly thick, with no foam. Aroma is intensely malty, molasses, figs and nutty. Body is average, with practically no carbonation and some stickiness. Taste is markedly sweet, plus quite a toasted feeling. Final is long, still intense and malty.
