Weiss Principal is the international love child of a German Hefe-Weisse and an American Double IPA. This unfiltered wheat beer employs a traditional German Weiss yeast, providing engaging banana and clove flavors. A stern dry-hopping of a pungent American hops provides pronounced citrus, pine & fruit notes.

Whole Foods, Bowery 650ml ($8): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is floral, herbal, kind of like a Belgian strong ale or some IPAs, but definitely not like a hefeweizen. Taste then is nothing like the aroma. Sweet and malty, with an underlying hoppy bite. I suppose that there is some banana and spice in there, but not really that much. If this is a collision between two styles, it is one that abandons the characteristics of both in the fusion. Fairly drinkable though.

Sample from 650 ml. bottle. Sweet aroma with spices, cloves, oranges, pines, citrus hops and caramel malts. Taste is sweet. Medium body with a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with a citrus note. Very fine mixture of styles.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours a cloudy opaque golden with a tiny, rough, white head. Spicy, vitaminy aroma. Rich body, herbal and yeasty, again vitamin notes with a rather bitter finish. 130913

Bottled:
Hazy amber with a mid sized head. Malt honey aroma with notes of marzipan and alcohol. Fat malty mouth feel. Flavour is malt, honey, hops and some alcohol. A bit rough around the edges but still drinkable.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Cloudy deep golden, rich head. Aroma of pear, grapefruit and banana. Sweet with full body and sticky mouthfeel. Heavy with banana, honey and treacle, covered in tropical fruit hops. Resiny bitter finish. Warming and potent. More brute force than finesse, but not without highlights.

Big bottle shared, from SB cons 2013-08-24 Göteborg OK guys, this is not an hefe ie no bananas here - more like a DIPA AR: rich and sweet tropical fruits (as mentioned above, no bananas), Cointreu, fizzy, wee flour, great brew, thick liqued, oily feeling

Hazy golden color. The aroma has a point of citrusy fruits, oranges and tangerines; light malt. Round mouthfeel, good malt flavor, with nice citrus fruit balance (oranges, tangerines), moderate sweetness, strong bitterness, soft and fruity resins in the end; light spicy yeast character.
Very good, interesting.
