Bottled (as Crystal Bitter). Hazy deep amber colour with a mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is biscuity, some toffee, mild floral and wooden notes. Flavour is nutty, floral, bitter and some slight herbal tones to it. Smooth bitterness in the finish.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear dark amber / mahogany with a small off-white head. Aroma is subdued, with bready malt, a little caramel and very subdued resinous hops. Flavour is dry and malty, with a toasted bready malt base dominating, followed by a little dry caramel and a touch of resinous hop oils. Nicely structured enough but not particularly interesting.

Medium reddish color. Green bean coffee, apples and apricots in the nose. Moorish mouth very earthy rich with solid malt character and tons of hops. Decent stuff

Sample at SBWF 2016. Hazy light copper with a white head. Aroma of malt, some hops, caramel and cookies. Similar taste. The body was medium, as was the bitterness.

Tap at DC Hama. Light pepper aromas with some caramel, toasted toffee and pine. Well-balanced on the palate with the caramel malt shining, but the nice peppery hops really stand out on the finish just enough to keep it interesting. Enjoyable. --- Beer merged from original tick of Spin Cycle Red on 29 Feb 2016 at 19:12 - Score: 6

(Bottle, as "Crystal Bitter") Reddish amber colour, slightly hazy, with lasting rocky off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of treacle toffee, apricot marmalade, orange peel, red-currant and caramel. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, toffee, red fruit and a balanced citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Gets a bit sweet after a while, but it’s tasty and quite well balanced. Quite nice.

On Tap clear chestnut brown with a small skin of a lasting head. Sturdy lacing, Light toasted malt aroma, and woody light toast malt flavors. A slightly bitter astringent brown ale. Im used to a more fresh hoppy bit in red’s. Still, not unpleasant.
