Poured from a 22 oz bomber. Aroma has moderate sherry notes from oxidation with some raisin, fig and prune. Some dark caramel an toffee notes with hints of chocolate and roast. Light bourbon and oak notes. Hints of alcohol spice. Pours dark brown to black with a medium sized, moderately thick, dark tan head that recedes somewhat quickly to a thin film that lingers. Faint lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with moderately strong sherry, raisin, fig and prune notes. Moderate toffee and caramel notes with light chocolate and faint roast notes. Light oak and bourbon with light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and slightly silky with moderate carbonation. Low astringency and low but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice beer. The sherry notes are a bit strong in the aroma but work nicely in the flavor. Much like the iced Bart, it’s time to drink these if you have them. They are not getting any better.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Almost clear dark brown beer, little pale tan head. Palate is smooth and fresh with a mild fine carbonation. Bourbon biscuits in the malt. Light bourbon (the real stuff!), smooth with a touch of oaky vanilla. Whisper of cherry. Smooth finish. Lovely!

Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, smooth on the palate, light booze in the finish. Soild stuff, the alcohol is well integrated.

The taste is smooth, roasty, earth, wood, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, fudge, light bitterness, butterscotch, cocoa and light alcohol warmth with a bitter-sweet finish. Full body, fine carbonation and lightly sticky mouth-feel. Smooth, well-balanced and dangerously drinkable!

Toasty bread on the nose, some burnt pine, hints of raisins. Medium to big sweet flavor, plenty of dried dark fruits, brown sugar, raisins, plums, mild chocolate, toasty toffee.
