Draught@SBWF2013. Black colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, some ginger, a bit Xmas spicy tones. Flavour is kind of roasted malts, liquorice a bunch of Xmassy spices, but the ginger does dominate a bit much.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013, 10/08/13. Mid black with a moderately sized tan head. Nose is root ginger, Jamaica ginger cake, dark fruit, dark malt, cocoa. Taste comprises light roast, earthy, dirt, cocoa, tarte dark fruit. Medium bodied, a little over carbonated, dry finish. Ok impy, a little sour/lactic in places, perhaps a little infected but certainly still drinkable. If this is the case I’m not sure the real deal would have been rated much higher, ginger in beer doesn’t do a huge amount for me!

Bottle, 8.6%. Good ginger aroma, quite roasted. Black colour, seems cloudy. Small frothy brown head. The flavour is roasted with a good ginger note. Is a little citric, sourish from the hops, it seems.

Bottle. Pours cloudy dark brown with small tan head. Clear, dusty aroma of roasted malt and ginger. Sweetish, smoky and spicy flavour of malt and ginger. A rather disturbing and unbalanced mixture. Drinkable and decent but I could have expected more.

(Draught at MacKinlay’s Inn, Stockholm, 6 Feb 2013) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, spicy nose with notes of ginger, dark bread, coffee and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, ginger, dark bread and a dry finish with a spicy bitterness. Almost full body, quite dry. Very nice stout with a impressive ginger character shining through, but still staying very well balanced.
