A Journey Through the Woods
Le Royale is a Barley Wine aged in maple syrup barrels, blended with an Imperial Stout aged in French oak barrels to enhance its character.
This is the eleventh creation in the Barrel Works series, our barrel-aging program launched in 2020 to elevate complexity and explore new paths in brewing.

0.75 l bottle shared at the BJCP Judging School, Žminj. Sticky oily dark brown, small head. Aroma is molasses, maple, oak, black cherry, roasty, caramely and bready underneath. A hint of smoke and blueberry. Smooth, gentle, quite drinkable, medium body. Sticky and sweet, not too sweet. Some oak, also some charred wood in the flavour, lots of molasses and caramel. Heavy, a hint ow warmth, medium dry finish.

0.7l bottle, thx H! Shared with Žminj crew. Blackish red body, no head. Cocoa, coffee, vanilla, oak and low dark fruit in the aroma, leaning on maple. Smooth taste, sweet, bitterish, dominant but well restrained maple, caramel, bit yeasty, creamy to the max, medium body tho. Bit of wood, light umami vibes, trace trace tartness, with the sweetness, bit herbal. Nice!

Dark brown colour with ruby notes, minimal creamy beige-ish head; aroma and taste of dried cherry, prune, caramel, raisins, and cocoa notes; good one

0.75l bottle thanks to Lore. Black body with a thin beige head. Aroma and taste of chocolate, coffee, whiskey, raisins, prunes and some floral hops. Very nice.

Аромат кофейный в основе, немного черного шоколада. Цвет черный, пенка тонкая. Вкус вроде и есть, но очень простой по сути, много кофе и зерен от него, шоколад черный.

Bottled 660ml. -at Goblet Zagreb. Black coloured, medium sized pale brown head, alcohol, caramel and light barrel in the nose. Sweet malty, light roasty, caramel, maple and light marzipan with oak notes. Bit boozy finish.

Bottle. Color: Almost black, light brown head. Aroma: Maple syrup, dark malt, some roasted malt and oak wood notes. Taste: Smooth, malty, Maple syrup, dark malt, caramel fudge, some roasted malt, oak wood notes, hoppy backbone, hints of nuts. Medium to over medium sweet, moderate to over moderate bitterness. Bit sticky. Full body, below average carbonation. Nice complexity. Slow sipper. Very nice.
