Bottle from Budgens Islington. Malty aroma. Hazy gold lasting thin white head. I mean it’s alright if you like that sort of thing. Very Czech I would say. Bit of rubber. Not good certainly. Nothing that will worry Franconia. Settles down. Kinda ok. Still my previous comments stand. Some biting hop on the finish.

Odd beer. Lager in letter but not in spirit. Bitter/sour taste predominates, loitering at the back of the tongue. Weakish palate.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a blond mid-sized foamy head. Delicately grainy (cara-)malty aroma with citrus-fruity and slightly flowery hops. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a crisp carbonation. Slightly biscuity malty taste with a mildly fruity hoppy background; delicately bready and biscuity malty finish with a tinge of fruity hops. A decent Lager, perhaps a bit expensive compared to the continental ones. 27.IV.13

Flache Flasche: Golden to deep golden, a bit hazy, stable and creamy white head, distinctive herbal-grassy traces in the bitter and fruity nose; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, quite dry and light to medium bodied; dry, tart and prettily lingering herbal-spicy finish, some bisquity malt serves as a counterpart. Hats off! An unexpectedly well crafted Lager from good old England…

(Draught at Jerusalem Tavern, Farringdon, London, 20 Nov 2012. 5.2%) Golden amber colour with brief, white head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with notes of toast, orange peel and toffee. Malty, fruity taste with toast, orange peel, dark bread and a certain citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slightly sharp carbonation. A touch of sweetness. A lot better than your average pale lager. Quite nice.
