On tap at P&P Charleston. Black with huge light brown head. Aroma is herbal hops, medium body, medium carbonation, and thick small-bubble lacing. Taste is herbal hops, dark malt, and some citrus hops.

Draft in a standard pint glass. Huge off white head that left sheets of lacing on a black liquid. Aroma is pine and mild citrus hops with chocolate malt. The flavor is much the same with a good chocolate malt to pine hop balance. The bitterness is a little length with pine being more dominant than the citrus. The body is pretty thin. If the body was beefed up it would rate higher. I guess it is lighter for the summer months. Still would like more body.

Bottle, 12oz. It’s a reddish dark brown beer topped by a dense, finger-thick light beige head. Looking completely clear. The aroma is smoothly coffee-ish, with nuts and a piney touch. The flavor has a nice bitterness, with nuts, caramel, some coffee and chocolate and a little roasted touch. Full body, very soft on the palate. Lasting finish with a decent bitterness. A tad boring, but sure drinkable. 131231

Almost Pitch Black, Medium Head, Decent Lacing. Surprisingly, No Pine Or Hop Aroma. More like a Stout, let’s say Guinness, Toasted Barley... Taste of Toasted Malt, Light Hop, No Orange Peel. Might Not be the freshest bottle... Although We Might never know, since there is no data stamps of any kind... Drinkable. Decent...

smells like old lager, not impressive to the olfactory. not really black since I see some rose hints in there. Some roasty hints laced with dull ipa BS. Some co2. Just a bitter dark beer like all those black ipas. Thar, yah have it. Go figger ipa lovers. Not impressed.

Pretty good black IPA. Pours a black-brown, with medium head that dissipates rapidly. Aromas of citrus and coffee. Flavor was quite smooth, with coffee, anise, roasted grain all well-balanced with the citrus of the hops and the orange peel. One of the better beers of this type I’ve come across.
