Another big flavor high abv beer heading into Strong Beer Fest weekend. BANANA SPLIT started out as a single-runnings imperial stout, we caramelized/reduced the wort down to a very concentrated and thick, high sugar content wort. During the end of fermentation we let this stout base rest on a mix of cocoa nibs, bananas, vanilla, strawberries, crushed peanuts, and a bit of maraschino cherries to top it off. Safe to say this is the most decadent big dessert stout we’ve done to date. Overall the adjuncts all seem to meld together pretty harmoniously, like blending up a banana split. Lots of warming chocolate, slight strawberry/cherry presence, peanut throughout, banana is familiar, vanilla is subtle but definitely rounds everything out. Safe to say the thickest beer we’ve made. 11.2% abv.

12oz bottle pours with a deep dark colored body that supports a thin ring of tiny bubbles. The aroma offers up a nice hit of banana moving into dark chocolate covered dark roasted malts. The taste delivers a bit of velvety dark chocolate blended into dark roasted malts, spicy black licorice and heading quickly into a modest banana sensation. Really nice sipper.
