An dieser Stelle ein riesiges Dankeschön an meine Großcousine, die mir immer wieder von diversen Ausflügen und Urlauben ganz interessante Biere mitbringt!
Im Glas erscheint dieses Golden IPA glanzfein und bernsteinfarben mit kräftiger, feiner Perlage. Die feiporige Schaumkrone erscheint in gebrochenem Weiß und ist dabei flaumig-stabil und unfassbar langlebig. Der Duft lässt Gutes erahnen... karamellige bis toffeeartige (eventuell auch leichtes Diacetyl) Malznoten, die sich mit reifen Steinobstnoten, aber vor allem mit kräuteriger Hopfenaromatik zu einem schönen olfaktorischen Gesamtbild vereinen. Der Antrunk kommt sehr angenehm, kräftig feinrezent, toastig bis gut karamellig malzig und wunderbar kräuterig und passend bitter Hopfenaromatisch. Im Mund zeigt sich ein Körper mit mäßiger Fülle, kräftig-feiner Rezenz, seidiger Textur und dem Stil entsprechender Trockenheit. Geschmacklich und aromatisch hat dieses Bier alles zu bieten, was ein klassisches IPA ausmacht. Eine anfangs süßlich anmutende, toastige bis karamellige Malzbasis, die in eine wunderbar aromatische, aber auch merklich bittere Hopfenaromatik mit Noten von Kräutern und würzigem Schwarztee und vielleicht sogar auch Bergamotte übergeht. Definitiv kein Diacetyl! Das Gesamtbild würde ich vielleicht noch nicht als komplex bezeichnen, aber doch als sehr spannend, vielfältig, ausgewogen und wahnsinnig schön komponiert. Sehr klassisch - aber mit einem zarten Pep. Obwohl mit Cascade, Amarillo und Herkules gehopft, hätte ich fest darauf getippt, dass in erster Linie klassischer East Kent Golding im Spiel ist - aber so kann man sich täuschen. Fakt ist... wer klassische IPAs mag, wird dieses lieben und die hohe Drinkability spricht für sich! Im langlebigen Nachtrunk wirken die karamellig-malzigen Noten gemeinsam mit der kräuterrigen Hopfenaromatik gut nach und nach einer Weile legt sich eine prägnante bittere Hopfennote mit zarter Kräuterigkeit und ausgeprägter Schwarzteearomatik für lange Zeit in Mundhöhle, Rachen und Kehle und regen zum Weitertrinken an.
Fazit: Was klassische IPAs betrifft, sicherlich eines der besten die ich bisher verkosten durfte.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours clear golden amber with a thin white head. Aromas of citrus and toffee, creamy malt and something herbal. Taste is light bitter, orange pith, more toffee. Light sweet finish.

Bottle from Wine And Beer Direct, Halifax. Dark amber with a small head. Has plenty of hops but plenty of fruitiness at the same time - in both aroma and taste.

500ml bottle from Yorkshire Ales online store. Dark amber colour with an orangey tinge, foam off-white head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of caramel, grapefruit citrus, hoppy. Taste is caramel malty with fruity, orange, woody pine and tangy grapefruit hop bitterness. Smoothish mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry lingering citrusy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Lightly hazy amber beer, bubbly off white head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Minerals. The malt ifs fairly neutral, a little cream. Mild pithy orange and orange peel. Smooth finish, good peel linger. Not bad.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium amber orange colour with a small large, frothy, good to excellent lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, light grapefruit. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, orange - citrus, hop bitter, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130329]
