Sour blonde ale aged in oak barrels with apricots

An Arabic term for "when the apricots bloom," Filmishmish is a sour blonde ale with apricots that balances the crisp tartness of a well-crafted sour ale with noted of fresh apricot jam and oak. This ale skillfully turns "wishful thinking" into "wishful doing."

Bottle shared at the CBJ BIG BOOSTY XMAS tasting, thanks to Juan or was it the other, 13/12/23. Moderately hazed orange topped with a thin off white cap. Nose is tangy apricot, funk, damp wood, herb, hedgerow. Taste comprises sharp citric zest, hay bale, lactic tang, bitter tropical fruit esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced puckering spike. Not bad.

Bottle. Master of Malt. Hazed gold. Dense white foam. Looks well. Nose has sour grain. Peach and apricot stone. Little bit of cardboard. Taste is tart and dry. Some oxidised like sweetness. Fairly acidic with foamy carbonation. Tart and dry finish. Past it’s best, probably.

Sample from 2015 bottle at Bob’s Bar during the "Mike Langley GTFO of Columbus Bottle Share" on 08/29/2016. The beer is a cloudy orange juice color with a thin white head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of apricot, yeast and oak. Light to medium body with flavors of tart apricot, earthy yeast, oak and malt. The finish is moderately sour with a citrus and apricot aftertaste. Good beer overall.
