We were considering the future of our traditional Mild, with its lower ABV, when Dr Mike came up with this new recipe for Manx Pale Ale. Against the grain of ever-higher ABV ales, our MPA has proven so popular that it is a firm feature in our Permanent listing. Which just goes to show - you can never underestimate the pure appeal of great taste.
A very light Gold Colour. Aromas of tropical fruit, mango, passion fruit and papaya. Initially sweet flavours of passion fruit and peach leading to an intense dry hop finish
Ingredients: Pale Ale Malt 1) Goldings Galaxy 2) Galaxy 3) Citra.

9th April 2015: cask, hand-pulled at the Isle of Man CAMRA beer festival. Pale golden body with a full white topping. Semi-sweet fruity nose with mango’s to the fore, the taste similar. Different and mildly interesting but not really my thing.

Cask @ HQ Bar, Douglas. Dark golden in the glass, fresh floral nose. The beer starts smooth, fresh and nice floral with citrus hints. The mainpart is easy to drink, floral-fresh, slightly bitter till the end. The aftertaste is floral, smooth, hints of sweetness and slightly bitter. Great beer!

Golden, clear, dense white head, good lacing
Aroma - soft lemon, soft fruits, light sweet pale malt, good nose for abv
Taste of lemon zest. quite citrusy, light sweet pale malt, clean, fresh, strong flavour for abv, really good flavour
Palate - Light body, little oily so not so watery, some sharp lemon zest, very refreshing. Finish is a bit dry, bitter zest, light malt background, bitter linger
Overall - Well put together, really good pale ale
Cask @ Bear and Billet, Chester [220314] [From memory as notes lost] 8/3/7/4/14
Pale blonde, dense white head. Good aroma of sweet tropical fruits and mango, especially for the abv. Similar tastes as I recall, very light pale malts, nice soft sweet tropical fruit citrus hops. Palate was fairly light, good mouthfeel for the abv, good bitter sweet balance, finish was clean. One of the best beers on the trip.

Cask at Town Street Tavern, Horsforth. First beer of the evening that smelt of hops! Lovely citrus burst of aroma, mixing tropical fruit and bready malt notes. Good balance on the bitterness, an excellent session pint.
