Winter Seasonal. Brewed with 4 types of cherries, aged in oak for one year.
Cascade Kriek Ale spends over 6 months of lactic fermentation and aging in small oak barrels. This "Belgian Flanders Style Red Ale" is refermented with a blend of fresh whole Northwest cherries and then hand bottled. Cascade Kriek Ale is bottle fermented and should be refrigerated or stored at cellar temp and served at 45 to 50 degrees.

Nice slightly bubbly mediumlasting head. Aroma is rich and sour-ish dry, sour cherries, oak, berry skin, sorrel, soda powder, mild vinegar, minerals, hints of thinner. Taste is sour-ish dry, vinegar, soda powder, berry skin, sour cherries, oak, sorrel, minerals, fruit salt, raw rhubarb, cherry stones. Medium bitterness, dry acidic mouthfeel. Very nice.

Poured into a plastic cup showing dark copper, translucent rims, and an opaque center. The nose shows a very strong oak background with notes of bing cherries. The palate is highly carbonated and full bodied. Strong oak background on the palate with big flavors of sour cherries. A light to moderately intense grassiness appears on the finish and the linger. Personally for my tastes there’s a bit too much oak that does not harmonize with the fruit flavors.

At Rich’s Massive Cellar Emptying Tasting. 8.17% cascade Kriek is a muddy pinkish brown that reminds me of the New Glarus strawberry. Oaky cork cherry aroma, scratchy carbonation on a light body. The taste is quite good a sort of cherry caramel tart and fruity.

Little cloudy rusty red brown beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sourish, funky, bit metallic, quite some chlorine. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, lots of sour cherries, some confiture. Aftertaste: little bitter, lemony sourness, lots of tannins, some vinegar.

Bottle, 2011 project. Pours hazy reddish burnt umber, small lasting beige head that laces well. Aroma is oaky, fruits, some toffee, a hint of tart cherry, light funky damp basement. Flavor is medium tart and lightly funky, fruity and very oaky, almost vinous. Medium body, acidic finish. Quite tasty after all this time.

Draft at the raccoon brew pub. 2013 project. Pours a dark reddish color with a super tart cherry aroma. All cherry flavor here, starts sweet and turns sour towards the finish, but not too sour. Just barely sour enough to scare people away, but it’s exactly what I look for. I’m not surprised here. Just another incredible beer from these guys. Loved it.
