Sweetwater originally collaborated with hip-hop star B-Real from Cypress to create the first G13 IPA. Each beer is made to harness the aroma, flavour, and theoretical vibes of various marijuana strains, and each release is named according to its corresponding strain.

Launched in 2018, G13 IPA is designed to simulate the flavours of the marijuana strain. This aromatic super-hybrid sticky IPA is dank and delicious with strain-specific terpenes and a natural hemp-type flavour. With one-two punch of hops and terpenes packs up a fresh and juicy hybrid hazy IPA that mimics that of the legendary G13 cannabis - and is ready to rip.

Can. Pours clear golden with a large frothy off-white head that flops down fast, lavender-orange aroma, adequate carbonation, mildly bitter orange peel taste with lavender flavor, thin body, long finish. Not exactly a haxy IPA though tasty.

12 ounce can bought from Beers of America as part of a delivery and drunk at home. Colour is bronzed, almost brownish gold, clear (this is a hazy?) with a thin spotty layer of off-white head. Dank aroma is fairly muted surprisingly. Taste is super sweet and super boozy, big orange caramel, vanilla, tropical fruit. Serious bitterness on the finish. Medium oily body, with reasonable carbonation.

Can picked up from Beer Republic webshop Berkel-Enschot Netherlands and consumed at home Friday 28th March 2025 watching Silo on AppleTV after homemade Chicken Bhuna with Dougals and Rice and a small side of Lamb Keema. Pours hazy dark gold edging towards amber with a white head. Sone light citrus notes, notably grapefruit but yeah that dank hemp type aroma also comes through and a heavy maltiness. Heavy maltiness in the mouth, sweet but also thick mouthfeel with a hoppiness and bittersweetness following again citrus touches, it's a reasonable beer but nothing I would rush back to.

Some real dank terpenes in this one for sure, the nose all terpene classic bag-of-weed smell. Some citrus and pine resin too, to signal that its really hops. Hazy dark copper, big fluffy head lasts a good while. Resinous hops coat the mouth at first sip, light cannabis flavors with pine resin. Dry to semi-dry profile, malts are there but clean and crisp and bready. Lingering herbaceous bitterness is not quite cannabis like in flavor, but more of a novel herbal flavor, something earthy and strong. It's fairly bitter for a hazy, surely the most bitter one I've ever had, and that seems likely because of the G13 strain rather than a heavy hand of bittering hops, but I'm not 100% on that. After awhile the dank subsides from the nose and it takes on that same weird bitter-herb quality in the aftertaste. It also really lingers on the palate in a way that is really not terribly pleasant. Strange beer that seems average to above average at first sip and then devolves into something I almost want to toss. It's that aftertaste that colors everything thereafter. I'll score the aroma on the initial whiff but everything else is based on the long-term impression. Can from Fresh Market, Winter Springs FL

Aroma of grapefruit and dank weed. Taste is hoppy bitterness, citrus peel, and weed. Flavor matches the aroma with some malty sweetness underneath. Moderate bitter aftertaste.
