A lively red IPA made with Pale, Munich and Carapils Malts plus a generous helping of Chinook, Sorachi Ace, Columbus, Cascade & Amarillo hops.
This beer dances around your tongue but then packs in a good punch. A beer with a robust bitterness that is broad and bracing, but held together firmly by a solid backbone of malt. Red in colour, with bright grapefruit citrus aromatics that leap out of the glass. Endlessly appetising. Fragrant, bright, zingy, citrusy, robust and strong.

Bought at Surrey Wine Cellar, Chobham. New label design, bottle style and ABV at 5.9%. Underpowered aroma - a touch of grass and spruce. Bright amber, a tad opaque. Extremely lively carbonation, resulting in a massive off-white head. Bitter - with a harsh edge to it. Underlying juiciness. Grapefruit, quinine, tangerine, herbs. Medium bodied and slick. Somewhat astringent finish. Unbalanced - the harsh bitterness overpowers everything else and leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured a hazy medium amber with a fizzy white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is grainy malt, some fruity hop notes. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light, smooth, fruity, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.

Bottle at the ChrisO Snow Tasting, London. Thanks to Colin! Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Has kind of a bready malt nose. Medium sweet flavor with dry bread, light dry caramel, some leafy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average, creamy carbonation. Dry, clean bready malt finish, further lightly dried caramel, a bit of dirt. Not bad.

Bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting, thanks to Colin. It pours amber with a reddish hue and small white head. The nose is toast, red berry, wood and some caramel sweetness. The taste is toast, wood, light astringency, leather, citrus pith, grapefruit and grass with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Fairly weak flavor. Disappointing, but perhaps it is a bit old…

Bottle at Chriso Snow Tasting, picked up at the brewery, 20/01/13. Hazed mid amber, thin bubbly off white head. Nose is malty, toffee, spice, light hoppage. Taste comprises caramel malts, some fruit notes, light hops - slightly faded, a hint of wood. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish. Drinkable, not too exciting, perhaps a little tired (was BBE Dec ’12 I’d forgotton about this one in the outhouse!)
