Cask at the Trafalgar Freehouse, Merton. It pours clear amber, with a thin white head. The nose is wood, leather, toffee and some citrus trying to get through. The taste is leather, wood, leaf, citrus pith, varnish and green hop, with a very dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A bit of disappointment really.

Old Fountain. Light haze on this amber beer, tiny white head. Smooth semi dry palate. Low carbonation. A little apple and raw grain. Okay hops - mild and sweet orange. Semi dry finish. A bit flat and a bit green - if this came against any of the real hopslingers in town like Kernel or Brewdog - it would be shot dead in an instant!

Cask at the Ravensbourne Arms, Lewisham. By the Horns special for July 2012. Amber/gold pour with a white head. Citrus, pine and grassy hop nose. Citrusy flavours with a bit of salt seemingly. Sharp hop tang on the palate. Dry, hoppy finish. Think this one was approaching the end of it’s shelf life. Wouldn’t mind trying this fresh.
