Batch 1753. Thick, lots of carbonation at first but foam vanishes instantly. Lots of tonka in the flavor, too much, turns into bison grass. Some chocolate, but vanilla vanishes completely. Unbalanced, not their best by far. Pity.

0.375 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before August 2022. Black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty, gently fruity aroma of cocoa, toasted nuts, red berries, some coffee and a touch of vanilla. Medium sweet, malty, gently roasty, slightly bitter, a little sourish, relatively fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, toasted nuts, lots of red berries, some tonka beans and a touch of vanilla, followed by a medium long, gently roasty-bitter, slightly earthy-dry, a bit tartish-dry finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy, a little astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very interesting and unusual beer, quite complex with an unexpected acidity, but overall well-balanced with none of the adjuncts dominating.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, mocha, earthy vanilla and caramel. Taste has smooth chocolate, earthy tonka beans, mocha, earthy vanilla, malt, marshmallow, some coconut and caramel. Finish has lots of tonka flavor and some chocolate. Really nice beer, on par with 2.1, but different, less herbal.

Black, tan head fades fast. Aroma of mocha, caramel syrup, sourish plums, a little boot polish, vanilla+ (which seems to be tonka). Medium to full bodied, perhaps a little lighter than expected. Low carbonation. Wasn't imagining those sourish plums - after a couple of sips this is just like a somewhat beerish version of a liqueur chocolate with a sourish plum edge. There is some roast and a little bitterness playing supporting roles and somehow the sweet presence gets lifted away at the end. And then after a time, the sweet presence lingers a little and it's not quite so much fun. But the first 200ml was terrific.

Fles van het Biermoment. Tonka en pistache to the max, maar met koffie die geroosterd en bitter is. Mooi in balans, al ligt er een licht zuurtje op de loer vd koffie
