Cask at the Duke William, Stourbridge. Pours very dark brown with a small head. Aroma is smoky dark fruits. Taste has chocolate and dark fruits to start with a touch of smoke. Very smooth.

Cask at Alehouse, Reading. Rich chocolate and malts aroma. Opaque red tinged brown. Thin beige. After the aroma the flava is a letdown. Sour dark berries. Light coffee and dark chocolate. Medium bodied Flat-average carbonation. Long finish. Alright. A tad  boring.

Can swop from friend. Mainly coffee and chocolate in the nose with hints of roasted malts. Pours a deep mahogany brown with reddish orange highlights and a substantial cream coloured head with some lacing. A passive mouth receives a sweet caramel malt texture, whereas an active tongue seeks out coffee and chocolate cake with a hint of liquorice. Finish is mainly bitter coffee grounds. Very nice and enjoyable, but lacking that “wow” factor.

Cask at Southampton Arms. Dark brown with a golden head. Aroma is very roasty, bit of dark chocolate and lots of grain and a touch of smoke. Taste is slightly bitter, bit of coffee, bit dairy. Some roast malt too and a little bit of spice. Very grainy taste. Pretty nice!

Beautiful can disign. Opaque deep brown pour. Tall ivory-coloured head of mediocre retention. Light lacing. Aroma: roast, coffee and earth, additional cocoa, a hint of cream. Light plus body. Taste: dry, roasted. No off-notes. Just the overmentioned things plus pronounced bitterness. Long finish of roast and hop. Actually it's good enough. That said, I would ask for more rich maltiness and complexity in case of porter. Or stout? I'm confused...

Bottle (backlog 2014). Dark brown body with a small beige head. Lovely aroma of dark, roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor is sweet and smooth roasted dark malt, chocolate, coffee, hint of red berries and good balanced bitterness. Fine balanced body, long lasting pleasant aftertaste and all over a very smooth and balanced, classic porter. Nice.
