Bottle. It pours an unclear brown body and a small, light beige head. Mostly hoppy aroma, with pine cones and resins, some maltyness in the back. Caramel, toffee and some chocolate. A light oxidation too. It’s quite bitter on the palate, balancing the malty sweetness. Caramel, chocolate hints and pine cones and resins. Full body. Lasting bitter finish. Although sort of balanced, it feels unbalanced in a way. Sure good, but I know of several other barley wines I’d rather have. 130216

0.5l bottle, #547 of 804 from myBrewerytap. Pours a dark oaky brown body with a really thin - almost non existing - brown head. Aroma is light licorice-sticky-sweet, subtle roasted caramel tones and hints of both sweet dried fruits and wood. Quite nice. Full-bodied with a nice barley-caramel sticky mouthfeel. Warming and calming flavors. Somewhat out there on the sweet side of the barleywine scale, but not to sweet. Dark caramel, salty licorice, it's spicy and it almost feels like it has been burned just a bit around the edges. Ends in a lovely warming finish and aftertaste. If I have to pick, I guess it's what you almost can call flat, but somehow I find that quite suiting for these kind of beers. Turned out to be one helluva sipper! 08.02.2012

Bottle, vintage 2010, at local tasting, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV 10.1%. Bottle No. 543 out of 804. I drank it a bit too warm. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Strong malty and vinous aroma, oaky notes. Sweet flavour, malty and oaky. Decent hops in the finish.
