A collaboration long in the making - we’ve been honoured to call the team at Duration friends stretching back before their incredible Norfolk brewery was up and running - being treated to a tour of the site and (legally) breaking in with Miranda and Bates before they had even broke ground in 2019. Like ships passing in the night, we’ve managed to miss one another since but when planning our seventh birthday beers we already knew our East Anglian pals were top of the list to work with.

Wanting to express our shared love of the old school to give a little bit of a break from the new school haze on this year’s lineup, we’ve gone full throttle with a West Coast IPA that pays homage to the brewers of yesteryear, but with one foot in the present to boot. Keeping it simple on the hop bill with three pillarstone hops in Citra, Simcoe and Chinook, we’ve layered the hot side additions to create a West Coast beer that is unashamedly bitter but with a clean piney and resinous finish.

Sample thanks to Grumbo! Pale misty gold, small white head. Pleasant doughy brioche and a Caribbean exotic breeze with pokey pineapple and a grapefruit bitterness. Nice.

Clear golden yellow with a mid-height white head. Notes of citrus, grapefruit, pine, dank, fruity. Medium bodied. Finish has good bitterness. I wish it was a bit bolder but otherwise a solid WCIPA.

440ml can from Left Field Beer, Solihull. Poured a slightly hazy yellow golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, light piney, dank, lemon lime citrus. The flavour is over moderate bitter, with a fresh, crisp, grassy, light lemon citrus, woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Tasty and refreshing.

Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grapefruit, pine resin, metallic notes. Medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation, dry sweetbitter aftertaste, quite grainy, orange pith, some spicy notes, kinda neutral impression, nice.
