250 ml bottle, from Prima Beer, Hobro. ABV is 10%. Hazy dark brown colour, low off-white head. Strong malty aroma, notes of dark dried fruits, brown kandij sugar and oak. Warming mouthfeel. Strong and medium sweet flavour, with the same elements as in the aroma, also alcohol and mild spices.

Sample from 25 cl. bottle. Unclear, brown colour with a thin, off-white head. Sweet aroma with dark, dried fruits, overripe plums, alcohol - maybe somewhat oxidized - wood, vinous notes, yeasts and spices. Rather complex. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body, thicker texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes sweet, fruity and with warming alcohol. Rather complex - good.

Bottle. It’s a lighlty unclear one, brown in color and topped by a small, dense, light beige head. Some alcohol in the nose, with beef stock, toffee, bready hints, some hoppy scents and a touch of higher alcohols. The flavor is quite sweetish and caramel-ish, with some beef stock and bitterness. Warming and full-bodied with a pleasant level of carbonation. Bitter, sweet and caramel-ish finish with dried fruits. A decent beer, but it lacks quite a bit on complexity, and is a tad too alcoholic. Sort of like doppelbock meets strong Belgian ale. 130510

Had my first Grauballe beer at You’ll Never Walk Alone in Kolding back in November 2002 - can’t believe that is more than 10 years ago, I might have been the first Ratebeerian to taste a Grauballe beer. Bottled. An unclear brown beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, alcohol, malt, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, over ripe fruits, alcohol, and malt, leading to bitter finish.

Bottle 25 cl. Pours a cloudy deep amber with an off-white head. Some overripe fruit and caramel in the nose. Rich body, burned caramel, a little spicy floweriness and a warming alcohol finish. Subtle phenols. Nothing spectacular but actually quite enjoyable. 040213
