25 cl bottle @ home, produced 10/2010
Aroma has raisins, alcogol, licorice and anise. Sugary sweet and candy-like. Flavour has rather strong and spicy tones. Some non-disturbing alcohol and mild solvent, a bit messy too. Mild cardboardish vibes in the finish telling the age of this sample.
And to brianza_ale: don’t you underestimate the power of veliemboys! ;-)

Tasting at Chez Bruce. Murky amber beer, not much of a head. Nose of sourish orange fruits. Palate is light and semi dry. Tangy malts with sweet and sour fruits. Definite winey tang. Over ripe orange. Touch of oxidised caramel. Smooth semi dry finish.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to LKS, 28/05/14. Murky orange amber with a moderate light beige swirl and edgeing. Nose is marzipan, spice, dark fruit, caramel, light booze, butterscotch. Taste comprises tangy dark fruits, lgiht acidic notes, toffee, dates, prune juice, cake mix. Medium + body, fine carbonation, lick of booze and sweet lickings in the close. Ok barley wine, doesn’t drink like 10%.

Bottle shared in London - picked up in Rome. Vintage 2011. Pours unclear, amber-gold with a bubbly, off-white head. The nose has tangy, oxidized fruits, light toffee, apricot, orange, hints of balsamic vinegar. Medium sweet flavor with lots of woody dryness, some leather, pale berries, white grape, mild alcohol, hay. Full bodied with fine carbonation and lightly oily texture. Lightly warming finish, vinous, some salt and vinegar, tangy fruits, sweat. Solid. Quite dynamic. Pretty impressive.

Corpo medio, carbonazione soft. Barley Wine non molto convincente, ma promettente. La bottiglia provata era troppo giovane.
